Promote to a knight with check

The attacking idea

Push the pawn through with checks. A knight promotion keeps the attack going.

The temptation

Playing e3 to remove the advanced pawn overlooks the bishop check and a dangerous passed pawn.

If they defend

Develop with Nf3 before challenging d4. Keep the king out of the forcing sequence.

You offer material to gain activity. Know how to continue if the opponent avoids the trap.
