Tennison Gambit

Clear the path to the queen

The attacking idea

Use a knight offer and a bishop check to clear the d-file, then capture the queen.

The temptation

Accepting the offered material moves the king or bishop away from the queen's defence.

If they defend

Develop carefully and keep the d-file blocked. The gambit player has given up material.

Accurate defence can leave the attacker behind in material or development.
