A bishop check uncovers the queen

The attacking idea

Move the bishop from d3 with check, opening the queen's route to d4.

The temptation

Recapturing on d4 with the queen overlooks a check that clears its attacker’s path.

If they defend

Develop Bd7 before taking d4. The extra defender prevents the same checking combination.

You offer material to gain activity. Know how to continue if the opponent avoids the trap.
